astronomy

One of America’s favorite astronomers and well-known speakers, Kevin Manning, will be at the Abbeville Library for an Astronomy Program called: Astronomy for Everyone.  This program will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 7:00 pm and is a family oriented program.

Kevin travels extensively across the nation engaging people of all ages in unforgettable and fascinating explorations of our universe. He is a gifted astronomer, having worked as a consultant with NASA, the Chandra X-Ray Observatory launched on the space shuttle with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and other ground bases observatories. He has won numerous awards in his field and has presented many workshops over the years at libraries, observatories, and science centers.

The program will include interesting video footage, a slide presentation and then a trip outside to view celestial objects in the night sky through a powerful hand-crafted telescope, such as ice crystal rings of Saturn and craters on the moon.
