Branch Manager Erath Library:
Qualifications: HIGH SCHOOL DEGREE OR EQUIVALENCY REQUIRED. COMPUTER & PEOPLE SKILLS REQUIRED. MUST BE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH CHILDREN AND ADULTS OF ALL AGES AND PLAN PROGRAMS
Salary: $9.25/hour; 35 hours including Saturdays.

Responsibilities: Assist in circulation duties and other library routines. Facilitate adult and children’s programs for branch location; Assist with library’s programs; Coordinate with local schools. Completes all task as requested by Director.
Duties:
Circulation Desk
- Open daily
- Check in and check out books at circulation desk
- Check and empty drop box daily
- Shelve materials
- Count number of people that come into the library
- Assist patrons in finding materials
- Call patrons for reserves
- Assist patrons at the copy machine when necessary
- Fax materials as necessary for patrons or library
- ILL materials as necessary for patrons from Loan Shark
- Read shelves weekly
- Shift shelves as necessary
- Wipe and dust shelves as necessary
- Take patron request
- Fill patron or branch request
- Turn patron computers on or off as necessary
- Monitor patrons on computers
- Write receipts for copy machine, faxes and Summer Reading items
- Enter new patrons in computer and assign patron card
- Verify patron information is entered correctly for patrons into system
- Collect money for patron cards when necessary
- Update expired patron cards and verify patron information
- Collect items to be sent to other branches
- Answer reference questions
- Record reference questions
- Assist with selection of items for library
- Compile daily reports for circulation desk: fines, reference questions, program attendance, library visits, etc.
- Manage use of meeting rooms
- Assist with selection of items for library; Select McNaughton books monthly
- Compile daily reports for circulation desk: fines, reference questions, program attendance, library visits, etc.
- Check and process mail
- Catalog magazines
- Laminate materials as necessary for patrons
- Weed/Discard items
- Write receipts for lost items, ear phones, flash drives, laminating, etc.
- Mend damaged items
- Banking to maintain petty cash
- Train subs
- Request necessary supplies
- Upon closing – check bathrooms, verify doors are locked and turn off necessary lights
Programs:
- Plan and implement a program once a week for either children, young adults or adults
- Register all children for Summer Reading program
- Keep track of summer reading charts turned in
- Turn in list of participants for summer reading certificates
- Organize and put out tax forms for libraries
- Assist patrons with forms when necessary
- Discard tax forms after tax season
- Visit local school to assist with needed materials
- Maintaining a scrapbook
House Keeping:
- Take out trash daily
- Clean bathroom and kitchen area daily
- Keep library dusted and clean
- Keep shelves dusted and neat
- Vacuum as necessary
Disinfect keyboards & computers
Qualifications: High school graduate or higher, skilled in using computer, preferably Windows and familiar with Microsoft Office suite: word, Excel; possess routine clerical skills, ability to work with others; willingness to represent the library system in a positive manner; appreciation of the objectives of public library services; possess initiative, neat appearance, leadership skills, tact, sense of humor, and resourcefulness when working with others/patrons
