Author Cheri Armentor, a storyteller, author and educator, will be giving a presentation based on the Louisiana Mamou Mardi Gras celebration called Le Courir de Mardi Gras. Her performance involves audience participation and is lively and interactive with props, music, dancing, and bead throwing – a true visual representation of one of Louisiana’s most famous cultural traditions.
Also included in her performance based on the story she published. “Le Courir du Mardi Gras’ – The Chicken that Got Away,” is Cajun French music and Cajun French language complete with props and costumes. The kids will actually ride on hobby horses, dance for the audience, throw Mardi Gras beads and beg for gumbo ingredients.
She will be at the Abbeville Branch of the Vermilion Parish Library on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 3:30 pm. For more information call 337-893-2674.
