Special Meeting
Library Board President, Anita Levy, called the Vermilion Parish Library Board of Control budget hearing to order on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Abbeville Library at 6:00PM. The following members were present: Jane Barras, Jennifer Saltzmen, Yolanda Broussard, John LeBlanc, Anita Levy, Melanie Hensgens, and Bridget Winters. Absent was Paul Bourgeois. Guests were Charlotte Bourg, Library Director, Amy Stelly, Business Manager, and Dawn Hebert, Assistant Manager.
The prayer was led by Jane Barras.
The pledge was led by John LeBlanc.
Amy Stelly called the roll.
There were no public comments on any agenda item.
Director Charlotte Bourg presented an update on the Gueydan Maintenance Project. A bid for build back work was presented to the board by the Delahoussaye Company for $24,950.00. On the motion of John LeBlanc and seconded by Bridget Winters the board rejected the bid due to the price of the limited scope of work. The director will work with architect Gene Sellers to get more bids on an expanded scope of work to include a host of other building issues.

On the motion of Jane Barras and seconded by Yolanda Broussard the board approved the Federal Mileage Rate at the level assigned by the Federal government.

In the discussion of items 4 and 5 on the agenda, John LeBlanc stated that this is a tabled item and may not be addressed until a regular meeting in February, not at a special meeting. According to the recording and minutes of the meeting from November 7, 2023, the motion and second to table the items of pay increases was moved until after the results of the millage election.
Director Charlotte Bourg reviewed the date and time of the board training session to be conducted by State Librarian Meg Placke on January 9, 2024, 9:30 am, at the Abbeville location. The director will get information in advance of the training to give to the board so they may be prepared to have questions answered in this session. All board members were asked to attend.
With no other business, on the motion of John LeBlanc and seconded by Yolanda Broussard the board adjourned until the next meeting.
