Board of Control Special Meeting

December 23, 2019

President, Betty Girouard called the Vermilion Parish Public Library Board of Control meeting to order on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the Abbeville Library at 9:00AM. The following members were present: Jane Barras, Betty Girouard, Melanie Hensgens, Yolanda Broussard, Anita Levy and Bridget Winters

Absent: Jason Connor and Leon Broussard, Police Jury ex-officio member.

Guest was: Charlotte Trosclair, director

Prayer was led by Ms. Anita Levy

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mrs. Jane Barras

On the motion of Ms. Anita Levy seconded by Ms. Yolanda Broussard and carried the board unanimously voted to accept the December 11, 2019 meeting minutes. There were no public comments.

YEAS: Jane Barras, Betty Girouard, Melanie Hensgens, Yolanda Broussard, Anita Levy and Bridget Winters

NAYS: None

ABSTAINED: None

ABSENT: Jason Connor and Leon Broussard, Police Jury ex-officio member.

On the motion of Mrs. Jane Barras seconded by Ms. Anita Levy and carried the board unanimously voted to hire Charlotte Pringle Bourg as the new director for the Vermilion Parish Library. There were no public comments.

YEAS: Jane Barras, Betty Girouard, Melanie Hensgens, Yolanda Broussard, Anita Levy and Bridget Winters

NAYS: None

ABSTAINED: None

ABSENT: Jason Connor and Leon Broussard, Police Jury ex-officio member.

On the motion of Mrs. Jane Barras seconded by Ms. Anita Levy and carried the board unanimously voted to set the new director’s salary at $65,000.There were no public comments.

YEAS: Jane Barras, Betty Girouard, Melanie Hensgens, Yolanda Broussard, Anita Levy and Bridget Winters

NAYS: None

ABSTAINED: None

ABSENT: Jason Connor and Leon Broussard, Police Jury ex-officio member.

There being no further business and upon motion of Mrs. Melanie Hensgens and seconded by Ms. Anita Levy the meeting was adjourned.

On the motion of Ms. Anita Levy seconded by Mr. Leon Broussard and carried the board unanimously voted to accept the November 19, 2019 meeting minutes. There were no public comments.

Mr. Eugene Sellers, Jr. gave a short presentation on the completion of the work at the Abbeville Library.

On the motion of Mr. Jason Connor seconded by Mr. Leon Broussard and carried the board unanimously voted to approve final payment to the contractor, Kenneth Guillot Painting LLC. There were no public comments.
